Unveiling Sitecore XP 10.4: What’s New and How to Install

Exciting news! Sitecore XP 10.4 is now available for download! You can easily access it through the brand new downloads portal.

What’s new in this release, you ask?

This version brings significant improvements in several key areas:

1.Simplified personalization management: Marketers can now extend the xDB schema effortlessly using a no-code interface, eliminating the need for custom development work. With the new user interface, marketers can add new facets and leverage them for personalization, segmentation, marketing automation, and analytics.

2.Composable integrations and analytics: Sitecore XP 10.4 makes it easier than ever to integrate your martech stack, allowing seamless connections with other SaaS products from Sitecore or other vendors in your broader ecosystem.

3.Improved security: We’ve enhanced security features, including the ability for system administrators to enable or disable SVG files containing JavaScript from being uploaded to the Media Library by default.

4.Over 200 enhancements: This release includes over 200 enhancements to functionality, robustness, performance, and supportability.

DOWNLOAD SITECORE 10.4.0 USING SIA

Download Graphical setup package for XP Single from Sitecore Experience Platform 10.4.
After extracting the downloaded file, proceed by running the setup.exe file.

As an administrator, initiate the installer and click on the “Install” pre-requisites button.

If you encounter an issue while running the installer on a machine with existing installations, you might come across the following error:

This error indicates a clash in the versions of Sitecore Installation Framework (SIF).

[Error] Authenticode issuer ‘CN=”Sitecore USA, Inc.”, OU=IT, O=”Sitecore USA, Inc.”, L=San Francisco, S=California, C=US’ of the new module ‘SitecoreInstallFramework’ with version ‘2.4.0’ from root certificate authority ‘CN=DigiCert Trusted Root G4, OU=www.digicert.com, O=DigiCert Inc, C=US’ is not matching with the authenticode issuer ‘CN=”Sitecore USA, Inc.”, O=”Sitecore USA, Inc.”, L=Sausalito, S=ca, C=US’ of the previously-installed module ‘SitecoreInstallFramework’ with version ‘2.3.0’ from root certificate authority ‘CN=DigiCert Assured ID Root CA, OU=www.digicert.com, O=DigiCert Inc, C=US’. If you still want to install or update, use -SkipPublisherCheck parameter.

To verify the available versions of Sitecore Installation Framework on your machine, execute the following command in PowerShell:

Get-Module SitecoreInstallFramework –ListAvailable

Upon identifying the version mismatch, run the following command in the PowerShell command prompt, ensuring to include the “SkipPublisherCheck” flag to avoid encountering the previous error:

Install-Module SitecoreInstallFramework -SkipPublisherCheck -Force

With this command, the installation should proceed smoothly, and the list will now display the newly installed SIF version.

Proceed by selecting the “Next” button.

Provide the Solr search service details and proceed by clicking “Install”. This action will initiate the installation of Solr 8.11.2 on your machine.

Once SOLR installation is completed, input the Sitecore settings and proceed by clicking “Next” Configure the following Sitecore settings:

• Installation prefix: Use the Sitecore instance name.
• Sitecore admin password: Choose a password.
• Sitecore License File: Select the license file from your local system.

Provide the SQL server settings and proceed by clicking “Next”.

If Solr details are not automatically filled in, manually input the SOLR details and proceed by clicking “Next.”

Solr Service URL: Enter the local Solr URL.
Solr file system root: Navigate to C:\Solr and copy the Solr path.
Solr Windows service name: Go to Services and copy Solr service name.

Optionally, select the “Sitecore modules (SXA)” checkbox if required.

Review the Summary and click “Next”.

Proceed by clicking “Install”.

The Sitecore Install Assistant (SIA) has handled all the necessary steps to guarantee a smooth installation of Sitecore 10.4 on your system.
